Soda Stream Review!

I have wondered every time I see the Soda Stream soda makers, "Do they work?"

Soda Stream USA sent me a kit that included:

• Black n Silver Fountain Jet w/ Container Bottle
• 1 CO2 Bottle
• 1 Carbonating Bottle
• 3 Sparkling Water Flavors
• 8 full Soda Syrups
• 6 1L Sample Soda mix Variety Syrups

It was an awesome experience!


I was so excited to open the kit. I couldn't wait to try it! I was like a little kid at Christmas. I immediately opened the manual and read the instructions.

I UN-boxed everything and filled my carbonating bottle with water to the fill line then set it in the refrigerator to chill. It was so hard to chose which Soda Syrup I wanted to try first. While I waited on the water to chill, I popped the cap off the back, screwed the CO2 into place and popped the back on it. That was it! Very easy assembly! I was impressed that you really don't need any more instruction than that. After that I was  ready to go.

Once the water had chilled, I took it from the refrigerator. Uncapped the bottle and tilted the lever back. I screwed the carbonating bottle into the front of the Fountain Jet.

There's no power, no batteries, no electricity, no cords, nothing besides the Fountain Jet! I pressed the button down in 3 firm, short bursts until the carbonating bottle filled with bubbles! :)

I then pushed the lever back and heard a NORMAL hissing sound, so don't be alarmed! That sound is just a small bit of gas escaping, but I did jump a bit! I unscrewed the carbonating bottle and set it aside.



From there, I filled my measuring cup up with cola. Tilting the bottle back, I then poured the measured cola into the bottle. I tightly closed the lid and shook it gently.




Taking that first sip, I gagged. It tasted horrible! I couldn't figure out what I had done! It tasted like cola from a restaurant when their CO2 machine is hissing. I thought it needed more Cola. Nope, now it just tasted flat. I tried to add more CO2. Then I just ruined it.

What did I do wrong?? EVERYONE loved their machine, but mine tasted awful.

I wasn't going to give up! I reread the instructions, tried again and failed. Finally, I went to SodaStreamUsa.com's FAQ and read that I wasn't pushing the button until I heard the LOUD BUZZ!


Retrying it again, this time using the Energy Syrup, I was impressed! It tasted just LIKE Redbull! But Better! It was FRESH and DELICIOUS!

If I can offer any advice... it's PUSH UNTIL YOU HEAR THE LOUD BUZZ! Otherwise, you aren't adding enough carbonation!

Every drink is fresh and fizzy. I will never buy canned soda... ever AGAIN!

I love it!! I tell everyone about it and show it to everyone who comes in the house!
